So, thought I'd make a thread on what addons you use and why .. possibly pasting which new / interested ones you find : >

Here's mine:

Atlas: Basic GPS sort of system. Gies detailed schematics of any instance and a World-Overview of where an instance is.

Atlas Loot: Gives DETAILED loot drop tables from any boss. Will also allow you to quickslot items so when you ru nan instance that will drop an item you want .. you will be alerted.

Prat 3.0: Gives many, many more features than the standard chat does .. and for me the most valuable .. Timestamps ;o.

Carbonite: Questhelper-esque mod. Will add second map to your ui where you can add notes to your map, and use a tracking system. Also highlights whole area's of quests. So you can never be in the wrong place ofr a quest. Cannot live without it even at 80.

Perl UnitFrames: UI replacement. I hate the standard Player / Party frames .. so I use this to change it. Still looking for soemthing better at the moment .. but for now this will do.

DeadlyBossMods: Something a tank should not be without. It alerts you when events happen at key events and it will alert you whe na boss performs a certain action which would need you to reposition it.

Omen: Calculates your threat depending on who your target is. MUST HAVE for any tank in my opinion .. cause without it it's simple guessing which mob needs most attention.

MikScrollingBattleText: Replaces the standard damage / healing text that you seen when you fight and gives a new dynamic .. moveable appearence. I love it .. and provides me with MUCH less clutter than the standard one does.

OneBag3: This merges all your bags into 1. I for one CANNOT stand seeing Blizzards default bag interface .. makes me want to vomit. Very good addon.

Grid: Gives a much more easy to control raid layout. I guess this would be very handy for healers and such .. I have it just for the sake of knowing what everyone is doing in a raid.

Obviously you guys use other ones .. so share plz ;o

Gathermate & Gathermate Data
Simply a must for any gathering profession also good for fishing, chests, lock boxxes and things like that.

Titan Panel
Iv used this for years shows you all sorts of things by default such as leveling rate, gold, bag space, location (xy) and a hell of a lot of other things, also has addons to improve what it can show well worth using imo.

Auctioneer
This is simply a must if your a hardcore auction house user or just casual, just scan once a day or week and it will show you the average going rate of times and whether items you pick up are worth adding to AH or dischanting/prospecting/smelting/cutting.

RatingBuster - The name speaks for itself, it breaks down ratings to give actual stats to help comparing gears, it also shows the total stats an item gives whenever you mouseover it, including gems, socket bonuses and enchants. It helps a lot to decide if you actually need a gear or not. I think they went as far as implementing diminishing returns on avoidance as well.

SpamMeNot - Prevents spamming from goldsellers efficiently, I've never seen it fail in catching gold spammers on chat channels. It also reports spammer if they reach a certain rate of spamming so you don't have to mouseover their name and click report spam, it does it for you. Creative goldsellers have been whispering players lately with their Lv1 characters and this addon also allows blocking whisper according to levels.

OptiTaunt - It announces in raid/party/chat whenever a Taunt is resisted, it also has a function of whispering the people who has the aggro of boss, not really useful if you already have it announcing on raid chat actually but kinda fun.

I think I'm gonna try Carbonite because QuestHelper is kinda dumb at the moment.

Recount - Measures DPS and Healing which then shows in a small panel. You can link the information in chat aswell. Good for seeing if people are terrible.

Using that along with Chat Link Allows you to link stuff in chats where you usually can't.

Coords Creates a really small box that shows your current coordinates on the current map. Really useful when trying to find something and cross-referencing with one of the wow helpsites.

Other ones I use have already been said.

P.S. Omen threat meter can be valuable for other classes than a tank as well, so that they know when to cut back on their dps and don't take aggro from the tank.

Prat - Chat addon
Pitbull - Unit Frames
Quartz - Casting Bar
Questhelper - If you still have quests to clear out
Chinchilla - Minimap
ArkInventory - Bags
Dominos or Bartender - Action Bars

These are the main ones.

I need to pretty up my UI and post a pic, but I'm lazy

Wowmatrix blows monkey cock. I miss the old WoW Ace Updater. Was awesome, got the updated versions from the place the authors updated them first. Wowmatrix will pull outdated addons because it's not getting them straight from the source. If you want something to update your addons, get the Curse Client. Closest thing to WAU I've found (Ace merged with Curse anyway) and has the most up to date addons I think. Anything that's not on there, you'll need to update manually, but that's limited to a few addons that are exclusive to wowinterface or private addons.

I use the curse client and wowmatrix hasn't failed yet to update the addons I have. Curse client never updates anything for me.

Hmmm so far I am using and a lot of these have already been posted.

Auctioneer Suite - I don't buy/sell without it
Bagnon - single bag display
Cartographer - first mapping one I got so I see no reason to change
Questhelper - I am a quest freak so this is a must
Titan Panel/Bar - I like to keep up with dura, bag space, gold, kph, etc and it is a small non-intrusive bar runs across the top of your screen.
ComboPointRedux - like to keep up when I should whip out Eviscerate
Fishing Buddie - just because I fish alot and I am curious
TownGuard - keeps you from searching for a guard in town to ask where the bathroom...ooops I mean the blacksmith is. It puts tiny icons all over your map. For a newbie, it helps.

That is all my rig can take without starting to lag. I will go back and try to make them all links when I have a chance.

Alright. I'm using both Cartographer and Atlas now. I like Cart for the world maps but it's whack in instances. This is where I use Atlas.

Quick Emote and Gratitude. 8)

Also Junk!, QuestHelper, Gatherer, and Auctioneer. (Yes I'm a noop, so I don't use many addons.) :P

After seeing all the stuff he did with SRO without any sort of guides, I would think that editing WoW would be a breeze for him.

Well it does the job it was designed to do, it's just horribly uncustomizable and looks like crap.

I'm using xperl, but like I said in my other post, I'm new to WoW. I don't really like the way it looks (the class colored codes really suck). What are the better options? And could you tell my why you think they're better?

You know, you could read 2 more posts up and see 3 alternatives to xperl.

Pitbull is the best. Very customizable, you can configure it exactly to fit your needs and it doesn't look like shit like xperl.
